Freedom

My brain often likes to dive into words. Right now it is diving into what does it mean to be free?

The first thing that comes to mind is detachment. Being detached from anything and anyone. I often find that detachment is seen as cold and as no longer caring. Yet to me it feels like you are connected to all just not attached to it. So if what or who you are connected to falls away from your life it does not mean you become neutral about it and you stop caring and dis-connect. That what comes and goes in life may trigger an emotional re-action. However this emotional re-action is only temporary.

The second thing that comes to mind is self responsibility. This one at times is a bit harder for our wounded ego to agree to. When the ego is experiencing a certain degree of pain, struggle or suffering it is easier to blame someone or something else for the pain, struggle or suffering we are experiencing. Yet accepting that we are the creator of our life actually provides us with a lot of freedom.

I believe that the pain, struggle or suffering we experience here on earth is not just random there is a lesson in it. We are not experiencing pain, struggle or suffering here because we did something wrong in another life and now we are being taught a lesson. No these lessons are for the evolution of our Soul. Our Soul wanted to expand and in order to expand we agreed upon certain life experiences to teach us.

Now I am not a fan of telling someone in the midst of their trauma that perhaps there is a lesson here and on a Soul level they chose this life experience. However when years on end we find that we are experiencing the same patterns and we appear to be stuck in a vicious cycle knowing that we are self responsible for our life is actually our first step to breaking the vicious cycle.

I believe this brings me to my third component; compassion. When we can have compassion for ourselves for the parts in us where (for whatever reason) we can not detach or hold ourselves responsible for our Life, hold compassion for the moments we move into attachment and giving our responsibility to something or someone else this can create more space for things to shift. That shift than brings about more freedom.

Ofcourse too the more we can do this for ourselves the more we can do this for others.
